SOCW630 Social Work Practice in SchoolSettings - CY Track
This course provides students with knowledge and skills for school social work practice guided by person- in-environment and resilience perspectives. Student will learn about current educational policies and practices and how they impact the lives of academically and socially vulnerable students. Discussions will center on individual and family needs in the context of educational policies, organizational dynamics, pupil adjustment and assessment, and life cycle development. Students will gain skills for engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation, including individual intervention with children and family intervention, and building links between families and school staff, classroom-based intervention, collaboration with teachers, and advocacy. Attention is given to promoting well-being with an emphasis on attainment of educational goals.
