SOCW600 Human Behavior in the Social Enviroment

This course explores theories that inform social work practice with individuals and families using a bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework. Within a person-in-environment and ecosystems perspective, students will integrate knowledge of human development across the life course and psychological and behavioral theories including psychosexual and psychosocial development, attachment and object relations, coping, cognitive-behavioral, and self-theory. The course will also integrate frameworks related to identity and diversity, including intersectionality, equity and inclusion, racism and discrimination, and cultural and spiritual development. Students will develop critical thinking on the applicability of the frameworks to diverse populations.
