SOCW629 Culturally Informed Behavioral Health Prac Field Internship
The purpose of this internship is to provide a setting for students to practice and acquire social work competencies for specialized practice in culturally informed behavioral health (CIBH) with individuals, families, and small groups. Emphasis is placed on developing knowledge, skills, values, and cognitive and affective processes and applying content from the classroom in the field. Students take 9 course units across 3-4 quarters to complete a minimum of 450 hours of CIBH specialized practice internship experience at an agency approved and designated by the MSW program. The course instructor places the student in a field agency, oversees the internship, and provides regular learning support and mentorship to the student for their activities and experiences. The field instructor at the agency guides, supervises, and evaluates the student for progress and mastery of the core competencies. The course is graded on a Pass/Not Pass basis. Pre-requisite: Successful completion of all generalist courses. Students must take CIBH field units concurrently with the CIBH didactic courses as specified in the MSW curricular plan. Exceptions may be allowed with special permission.
